HB 2090 NEW LAW, effective May 31, 2007
New state law to allow the Secretary
of State Corporation Division to reject documents that
contain a social security
number. Directs Secretary of State Corporation Division to use a
“unique identifier”
in the Effective Financing Statement (Farm Products) program in place of
social
security numbers.
HB 2826 NEW LAW, effective January 1, 2008
Allows companies to include in their Oregon articles of incorporation a statement that they
will do business in a way that is environmentally and socially responsible.
SB 583 NEW LAW, effective October 1, 2007
New state law addressing concerns
about Identity Theft. Provides consumers
the right to
freeze credit reports, requires businesses who store sensitive
personal information to notify
affected consumers in the event of data breach,
creates penalties for accidental disclosure.
SB 684 NEW LAW, effective January 1, 2008
New state law that prohibits
businesses from conducting never-ending going out of business
sales. One 90-day
going out of business sale allowed per year. Requires businesses to file a notice with the Secretary of State Corporation Division, prominently post filed
notice in the
place of business, and creates unlawful trade practice if
business violates law.
